11th Lock on the Barrow Line

11th Lock on the Grand Canal, Clondalkin. The first lock to be built by Thomas Omer in 1756, he started here because it was more difficult and expensive to buy land near the city. The two-storied house in the background is typical of Omer's lock-houses.
